Time for some nice and easy (lemon squeezy!) creative sparks which EVERYONE can do to ignite a lovey spot of creativity!
I’ve used this quote a few times in the past, and I LOVE it - so simple, yet packed with so much meaning (and who doesn't love Dr Seuss?!)
"Think left and think right and think low and think high.
Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!"
Dr Seuss
Our creative thinking cannot be linear. It can't go down the SAME ROAD. It can't travel along the SAME ROUTE to the SAME DESTINATION, because, well, that isn't creative enough for creative thinking! That's plain old boring thinking, isn't it!
So what we do when we start to think more creatively, is we think around the edges.
We literally, as Dr Seuss says, think left, right, up and down, because when we go OUT OF OUR LANE and DIVERSIFY our thinking, that's when the best things happen and our creativity is sparked enough to create fire!
Easy peasy lemon squeezy, right?
Give it a go!
But of course, you have to put yourself in the position to TRY.
“…if only you try!” says Dr Seuss 💫
So today, I'm giving you a few easy prompts to take out with you, and just TRY THEM!
1. LOOK UP
Electricity poles can look like May Poles! And have you ever noticed how many ‘lines’ there are in the sky - the electricity wires AND the aeroplane lines! 💙
2. LOOK DOWN
Someone somewhere had to design these ‘patterns’ for drain covers! Obviously they are also designed so they're not slippy, but there is variety out there - have you ever noticed? 🩶
3. LOOK NEAR
When I stopped to look at this yellow moss(?) on the wall, I couldn't believe how beautiful it was! Close up, it could be a beautiful flower - the detail and vibrancy is incredible! 💛
4. LOOK FAR
You just can't beat a corker of a view, can you?! Look far into the distance and see what you can spot! And often the clouds guide you into the scene, as they continue on for miles… 💚 (This is Malham Cove near Skipton, North Yorkshire - it’s a wonderful place - I definitely recommend a visit if you’ve not been already. We went for Mother’s Day - I love it!)
Creative thinking can really be simple - did you know? 🍋
So… **Let’s be more like Dr Seuss this week!**
Have a good one,
